Staff, students and friends of Bishop Grosseteste University gathered at Lincoln Cathedral on Wednesday to celebrate its new university title.

The service also marked the installation of the Chancellor, Dame Judith Mayhew Jonas DBE, and the Vice Chancellor, Professor Muriel Robinson OBE.

Three candles were lit during the ceremony: one by Andrew Wright (BGU alumnus and Life Fellow) to represent the past, one by Rob Thorpe (current Students’ Union President) to represent the present, and one by Sophie Ellis (current first-year student) to represent the future.

Vice Chancellor Professor Robinson then presented the candles to the upcoming Vice Chancellor, the Rev Professor Peter Neil.
