Lincoln car crime wave continues

Don’t leave valuables on display: Cars on three further Lincoln streets have had windows smashed in a continued crime wave in Lincoln this week.

Cars on three further Lincoln streets have had windows smashed in a continued crime wave in Lincoln this week.

More than 14 car break-ins were reported across Lincoln last weekend, and during this week, cars in Cannon Street, Redbourne Drive and Woodhall Drive have all had windows smashed.

At the weekend cars were broken into Greetwell Road car park, Welbeck Street, Wavell Drive, Carlton Boulevard, Friars Lane, Allenby Close, Wragby Road, Olsen Rise, Greetwell Close and Outer Circle Road.

In many cases, entry was gained to the car by smashing a window. The types of items stolen include sat navs, handbags, coats, keys, CDs and a music player.

Lincolnshire Police are now repeating their call for vigilance.

Inspector Pat Coates said: “We don’t think that all of the incidents are linked but we are certainly assuming that certain individuals are responsible for multiple offences.

“The message we are sending is to remove all items of value from your car and leave nothing, valuable or otherwise, on show,” he added.
