Lincolnshire antique centre wins best in country award

Another feather in the cap: Hemswell Antiques Centre between Lincoln and Gainsborough is one of the best in the country, according to an antiques magazine.

A Lincolnshire antique centre is one of the best in the country, according to an antiques magazine.

Hemswell Antique Centres was named the second best antique centre in an award by Homes and Antiques magazine.

The centre, between Lincoln and Gainsborough, was one of 25 businesses to be selected for the award.

It has one of the biggest selection of antiques dealers in Europe, and last year it won Antiques Centre of the Year.

It sells a range of period furniture and items that are useable now, paintings, porcelain, silver, lighting, kitchen ware, mirrors, jewellery, books, prints and clocks.

Managing director Robert Miller said: “It’s another feather in the cap for Lincolnshire, with the county featuring more and more in national awards with every year that goes by.

“We hope the profile that Hemswell gets will encourage more people to visit the county. On top of that the recognition is a just reward for all the staff here who work so hard to make the experience a positive one for all our customers.”

In addition to the commendation, Hemswell Antique Centres will also begin expanding its business, base on the former RAF base.

Robert Miller purchased the Guardroom at the entrance to the site and is refurbishing it, so a further 75 dealers can be added to the 300 dealers already working at Hemswell.

The building will have an atrium-style roof and an extra floor added.
