Lincoln treated to flypast in practice for Queen’s birthday parade

Special flypast: Lincoln residents got treated to a preview of the aircraft flying over Buckingham Palace for the Queen’s birthday.

Lincoln residents were treated to a large display of military aircraft on Tuesday afternoon, June 11, as the RAF practiced for the Queen’s birthday parade.

The 32 aircraft will be part of Trooping of the Colour, which takes place as part of the Queen’s official birthday celebrations on Saturday, June 15.

The Queen inspects the troops of the Household Division in St James’s Park in London, and then leads them down the Mall to Buckingham Palace.

The Queen salutes the troops, which leads to gun fire at Green Park and the Tower of London. She then goes to the balcony to watch the RAF flypast.

The aircraft involved in the flypast which soared over Lincoln ranged from Typhoons, Tornado, Lancaster, E-3D, Hurricane and Spitfire. Aircraft from other bases and the Red Arrows will also perform on Saturday.
