Man charged after armed stand-off with police on Shannon Avenue

Multiple charges: Lincoln man charged with series of offences after and armed police stand-off earlier this week.

A 26-year-old Lincoln man was charged with possession of a firearm and intent to cause fear of violence and other related charges after a stand-off with police on June 26.

Gavin Michael Crane was charged on Thursday night with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, false imprisonment, assault by beating, threats to kill and criminal damage.

He appeared in Lincoln Magistrates Court on Friday morning, where he was denied bail. He is due to appear at Lincoln Crown Court at a later date.

The incident began at around 7.20pm on Wednesday, June 26, after a police-installed alarm was triggered at a flat on Shannon Avenue, off Moorland Avenue in Lincoln.

When police officers attended the scene, they were met by the man who had a hand gun.

A police firearms response was initiated and a number of residents were evacuated from neighbouring properties as a precaution.

A stand-off with police lasted up until 11pm, and police said no shots fired and nobody has been injured.
