Burst water pipe in Lincoln city centre

Flowing water: A pipe has burst in Lincoln, causing water to run down a road near the city centre.

A burst pipe underneath a street in Lincoln is causing a lot of flowing water on the road.

The burst water pipe is affecting Rope Walk near the bridge, causing water to flow across the road towards the university car par junction.

Anglian Water has been informed about the leak, and engineers are heading to the scene.

The road is currently still passable for motorists.

— Update @ 10.44am: Engineers are now on scene determining the cause.

— Update @ 11.24am: Engineers have found that the leak is caused by a rupture in a four inch, cast iron pipe. They are now working to fix the leak, which is expected to be completed today.

At present it is not known if one lane on Rope Walk will need to be closed so work can be carried out.

— Update @ 2.49pm: One lane of Rope Walk is closed while workmen fix the fault in the road.

— Update on July 17 @ 9.39am: The water is no longer flowing onto the street, however one lane of Rope Walk is still closed this morning while Anglian Water fix the road surface.
