Waddington International Airshow 2013 — Day 1

Stunning displays: The first day of the RAF Waddington Airshow certainly did not disappoint, with some great areobatic displays.

Thousands of spectators gathered at RAF Waddington on Saturday, July 6, to enjoy this year’s Waddington Airshow.

The show, now in its 18th year, celebrates the 95th Anniversary of the Royal Air Force, 70yrs since the raids on the German Dams of WW2 and the 100th Anniversary of RAF Waddington’s own 5(AC) Squadron. The locally based Red Arrows, one of the biggest attractions of the day, also celebrated their 4,500th display, and their 49th season since conception.

The airshow treated spectators to seven hours of aircraft displays from aerobatics teams from across the world. Meanwhile on the ground, visitors could enjoy hangar tours, trade and craft fairs, a Classic Car and Vintage Military Vehicle Exhibition, and a funfair. Some aircraft were positioned outside for people to take a closer look.
