Wragby Road works to start for Tesco improvements

Extra roadworks: In order to let Tesco improve access, a section of Wragby Road and Deacon Road will be closed this summer.

Wragby Road in Lincoln will undergo redevelopment as part of plans to improve access into Tesco.

The works will begin on July 29 for around 15 weeks, and will introduce temporary lights to the junction outside the supermarket.

The section of road will be reduced to one lane for the first 10 weeks, and there will be no exit out of the supermarket onto Wragby Road.

Instead, motorists will need to exit via Deacon Road or Proctors Road, on to Outer Circle Road.

This is so work can be done on a new toucan crossing, plus improvements to the junction.

After this, for five weeks from September 23, work will also take place on Deacon Road, meaning the road will be closed.

All traffic will need to leave the store via the new Wragby Road junction.

Dave Underwood, Senior Highways Officer, said: “These significant improvements will ensure that the road network around the new Tesco store will safely support the increased usage anticipated from motorists, pedestrians and cyclists following the opening of the new store.”

Tesco is funding the redevelopment of the roads.
