European Stone Festival at Lincoln Cathedral

3 days, 100 stonemasons: A new video gives an insight into the preparation and running of the European Stone Festival, hosted for the first time at Lincoln Cathedral this summer.

A new video gives an insight into the preparation and running of the European Stone Festival, hosted for the first time at Lincoln Cathedral this summer.

More than 100 stonemasons from across the world gathered in the city for the festival, which was hosted for the second time in the UK in a decade.

The theme for the carving competition was food and farming, to match the county’s heritage.

The three-day event gave stonemasons until Sunday, June 23, to make and finish a design.

Each sculpture was then auctioned off with proceeds going to the Lincoln Cathedral Fabric Fund for ongoing repairs at the building.

The video, by Lincoln-based Epix Media, encapsulates the weekend, speaking to different stonemasons, visitors of the event and those who helped organise it.
