Local man drowns in Lincoln river

Drowning incident: A local man was pulled from River Witham in Lincoln at the weekend, but later died in hospital.

A local man has drowned in the River Witham over the weekend.

Police were called the river near Spar Road in Lincoln, at around 8pm on Sunday, August 18, after reports of a man seen to be drowning.

Lincolnshire Police, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue and ambulance services attended the scene.

The man, identified as being aged 31 and from the local area, was pulled out of the river.

He was taken to Lincoln County Hospital but unfortunately died.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
