Police warning after north Lincoln cycle thefts

Lock them up: Police are asking residents to make sure their bikes are locked up after a spate of thefts.

Lincolnshire Police are reminding residents in the north of Lincoln to make sure they lock their bikes properly after a spate of thefts in the area.

Since August 25, there have been bikes stolen from Sudbrook Drive, Wragby Road, Trelawney Crescent, Outer Circle Drive and Greetwell Road, the force said in a statement.

The bikes are taken from the street, back yards and sheds. In one incident, a £2,500 bike was taken while left unlocked outside Lincoln County Hospital.

Inspector Pat Coates said: “Please never leave bikes unlocked in the street.

“It’s worth buying good quality D-locks to prevent thieves from stealing them.

“If you’re using a shed then, again, invest in a good quality lock to keep thieves out and if you have a really high value bike then consider keeping it inside your house, where it is a lot safer.”
