Lincolnshire County Council is accepting white asbestos waste at its Household Waste Recycling Centres in Whisby near Lincoln and in Boston from this week.
The council is offering the service for residents in accordance with guidance from the Department for Environent Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
It is important that anyone thinking about using this service refers to the Asbestos Service Guidance information.
Andy McGinn, Environmental Services Senior Officer at Lincolnshire County Council, said:
“This service is solely for residents to dispose of small quantities of white, bonded asbestos that may be in their own homes. This could be the asbestos found in vinyl floor tiles or even the heat proof mat in your ironing board, and we will accept the waste by appointment only.
“If any of the conditions outlined by Lincolnshire County Council are not followed, the asbestos will not be accepted by the recycling centre.
“If your asbestos meets the criteria set out on the council’s website, please call our Customer Service Centre on 01522 782070 to arrange a date and time to safely dispose of the waste.”
