A local man has been arrested after he allegedly threatened people at the Jobcentre in Lincoln with a meat cleaver.

The incident happened at around 2.42pm on November 27 at the Jobcentre on Orchard Street.

Police attended the scene and a number of people were evacuated from the building.

Officers negotiated with the man, who surrendered his weapon.

The local man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. He is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

Witnesses to the incident are asked to call 101 quoting incident number 192 of November 27.
