New Lincoln car park for Christmas period

Overflow parking: A new car park offering 30 extra spaces has opened in Lincoln city centre.

A new car park creating around 30 extra spaces in Lincoln city centre has opened on December 10.

Flaxengate 2, in Danesgate, will provide overflow parking for the nearby Flaxengate car park until March 31, 2014.

Owned by Lincolnshire County Council, the site has been used as a private car park until now. The new car park will be run by the City of Lincoln Council.

The site is subject to the same tariffs and discounts as other council-run car parks, including the 25% discounts for people using the PayByPhone service on Mondays.

Rod Williamson, City Services Team Leader, said: “We are pleased to be working with the county council to be able to provide additional parking spaces in the city centre.

“We believe this is another positive step to help more people into Lincoln this Christmas, which is traditionally one of our busiest periods.

“This follows hot on the heels of reopening Lucy Tower multi-storey car park weeks ahead of schedule,” he added.
