Police hunt for absconder: A man from Lincoln convicted of manslaughter has escaped from jail in Wales.

A man from Lincoln convicted of manslaughter has escaped from jail in Wales.

Christopher Woodward, 44, absconded from Prescoed jail, an open prison in Monmouthshire, at around 8.45am on Friday, January 17.

The man is also known as Christopher Hunter. He was convicted of manslaughter in 1999. He is not a registered sex offender.

Woodward was serving a life sentence for killing his girlfriend Jo-ann Noble in Lincoln in August 1999. The conviction was later reduced to manslaughter.

Gwent Police are now searching for Woodward, who has contacts in the Lincoln and Lincolnshire area.

Police say he is a risk to the public, and warned people not to approach him but to call 101 instead if they have information on his whereabouts.

Woodward is described as white, 5ft 10 inches tall and of medium build. He is clean-shaven and has short-cropped brown hair and blue eyes.

He was wearing blue jeans, blue shoes and a black bomber jacket when he escaped.
