New Lincoln CrossFit gym opens

New gym: Lincoln now has another option for those trying to get healthier with the introduction of a CrossFit gym.

A new gym has launched in Lincoln in time for the New Year surge, but with a difference.

CrossFit Witham gym on Dixon Way builds on the latest training routine, CrossFit.

Unlike normal weight and cardio training, CrossFit offers a communal “workout of the day”, based on functional movements at maximum intensity.

The workouts of the day are designed to help and challenge any level of fitness as well as help people make friends as they train.

Co-owner and coach at CrossFit Witham, Adam Jones, said: “CrossFit is very different from your average gym. We are not another soulless gym where your name is just another pound sign on the balance sheet, but a community of friends who train, socialise and support each other.

“By employing a constantly varied approach to training, these functional movements at maximum intensity, lead to dramatic gains in fitness.

“The beauty of the workouts we programme is that they are suitable for everyone, no matter how fit you are, and as they are always changing there’s no danger of getting stuck in a rut or getting bored!”

Adam Jones and co-owner George Healey set up the Lincoln gym after trying out CrossFit in Nottingham and looking for a new workout to try.

He added: “In my past I’ve played football, ran marathon’s and 10k’s and done the usual gym workouts but had grown bored of these routines.

“CrossFit is never the same from one day to the next so everyday is a new challenge which I loved immediately.

“CrossFit can offer everything that a normal gym can and more. Although we don’t buy into the razzmatazz of expensive treadmills and faddy equipment, we have absolutely everything we need for people to enjoy their training, get fit and achieve amazing results.

“The quality of our service and the results our clients achieve rather than the number of saunas and drinks machines we have is what distinguishes us from the competition.”

The team held an open day and competition on January 11, allowing residents to have a go at a CrossFit style workout session and watch those more advanced train too.

You can have a free taster session by visiting the gym Monday to Friday, or for more information, contact the team on Facebook, [email protected] or by phone on 07725124535.
