Large industrial machinery arrives in Lincoln

Abnormal load: A large piece of industrial machinery made its way through Lincoln.

A large piece of industrial machinery made its way through Lincoln on Sunday morning.

This was the first of two parts of an industrial screw press made for Bifrangi’s premises in Stamp End in Lincoln by Forgemasters in Sheffield.

The transport vehicle was 60 metres long and four metres wide, weighing over 450 tonnes.

The machinery entered Lincolnshire from the M180 on Saturday afternoon, and approached Lincoln via the A15.

It was parked overnight in a lay-by near RAF Scampton, and continued its journey into the city on Sunday morning.

The load was carried by heavy haulage specialists Allelys with assistance from Lincolnshire Police.

No parking and no waiting restrictions were put in place along Croft Street, Baggholme Road and Stamp End.

The same size vehicle will travel again through Lincoln on the weekend on February 8 and 9, when the same traffic restrictions will be put in place.
