Lincoln Tank Memorial still needs £20k

Getting there: The Lincoln Tank Memorial Group is appealing for more people to help achieve the last round of their funding goal.

The Lincoln Tank Memorial Group is still seeking £20,000 in order to build its tank replica in the city.

According to the group, it has so far managed to raise £30,000 of its £50,000 target.

The group is presently trying to bring a life-size replica of the first tank, produced in Lincoln, to Tritton Road roundabout in honour of those who served in the World Wars.

Generous donations so far have come from the CEO of battle game World of Tanks (£10k), and local businesses such as Running Imp, plus a special Tank Ale in support of the group’s endeavours.

A planning application for the monument has been approved by city councillors.

Now, the group is appealing to individuals to help raise the last amount of the money needed for the memorial.

They ask that people run the Lincoln 10k on April 6 in honour of the Lincoln Tank Memorial Group.

As an incentive, Running Imp designed a commemorative t-shirt which is free to anyone wanting to raise sponsorship for the project.

Any money raised, no matter how big or small, is welcomed by the group.

Anybody wishing to take part for the Lincoln Tank Memorial should contact Chris Illsley on [email protected], stating their t-shirt size (available in small to extra large) and their address.

The memorial group will then send a sponsorship form and arrange delivery of the t-shirt.

The memorial group are also keen to hear of any other fundraising events taking place or ideas for the tank memorial.
