Jesus Christ Superstar coming to Lincoln Cathedral

Superstar stage production: A popular musical production will be performed at Lincoln Cathedral next year.

A popular West End musical will be visiting Lincoln Cathedral next year for two weeks.

The cathedral announced that a production of Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s popular opera Jesus Christ Superstar will run in the Cathedral’s Nave from July 23 to August 1, 2015

The event is scheduled as part of Lincoln’s Magna Carta 800-year celebration.

The show tells the story of Christ’s last week of life leading up to his crucifixion, but told from Judas Iscariot’s point of view.

It features songs such as “Heaven on their Mind”, “Gethsemane” and “I Don’t Know How To Love Him”.

The production company even had to obtain permission from Lloyd Webber himself, as performance rights will not be widely available in 2015, who is said to have been excited at the prospect of an adaptation of his show taking place in the venue.

Brad Buchanan and Ben Poole will produce the show, with Neil Martin as Production Manager.

The trio will soon look for the best professional and amateur talent around local community.

They currently need singing groups and choirs to join together for a 200-strong ensemble.

Support is also required from local businesses, from sponsorship to technical expertise or facilities.

To get involved, visit the Superstar Lincoln website (once launched) or email [email protected].

If you want to sponsor or support the show, call Paul Robinson at the Cathedral on 01522 561604 or email [email protected].
