Lincolnshire Sport offers £1k community grants

LN6 Active: Funding is now available for clubs and groups in the LN6 area to help people get more active.

Lincolnshire Sport is offering grants of up to £1,000 for community groups in the LN6 area wanting to get people active.

The grants are available to sports clubs, community groups, workplaces and groups of friends who want to keep fit and take part in more activity.

Funding can be used for revenue and capital costs, training, equipment purchase, facility hire and coach/instructor fees, or even marketing campaigns and events to raise awareness.

The funds will come through the Access LN6 project by Lincolnshire County Council, which promotes sustainable travel.

In the last round, Witham Runners received £950 to train more leaders for their running group.

Amy Story, Physical Activity Project Officer, said: “Ten groups within the LN6 area have already benefited from funding worth £7,792.

“Successful groups have included Lincoln U3A, Hartsholme Cricket Club, North Hykeham Croquet Club and Nicholsons Chartered Accountants. We welcome applications from all types of organisations and would encourage people in the LN6 area to start a new activity session in their community or workplace.

“It could be anything from yoga or badminton to Nordic walking or a jogging group.”

The next closing deadline is June 29, 2014.

Application forms are available on the LN6 Active page. For more information, contact Amy Story on [email protected] or call 01522 585 580.
