Friends and family search for missing Lincoln memorial plaque

Missing memorial: Friends and family of a Lincoln man who died in 2011 need help finding a stolen memorial.

Update on June 16: The memorial plaque has been found by Carolann Topham at the weekend and has now been put back in place.

Friends and family of Lincoln man Matthew Tuffin are asking for help in tracking down a homemade memorial plaque.

Matthew passed away in 2011 after he was knocked off his bike on Carholme Road.

Since, friends, family and colleagues of the man, who worked for Lincolnshire County Council at Beech House on Waterside South, planted a tree with a small wooden plaque at the base.

The plaque is 12 x 6 inches, painted white and is carved to spell out “Tuff Man”, with the first F inscribed with “Happy Birthday Bro, Love Always Dave”.

However, the group discovered last month that the plaque had been taken from the memorial.

Close friend of  Matthew Tuffman, Dave Toye, is asking residents to help find the plaque, as the group is keen to see it back in its proper place.

He said: “As I’m sure you can appreciate the tree and the plaque mean a great deal to myself and my friend’s family. Personally, I am truly hurt that this would be removed from the site.”

If you have any information on the missing plaque, email us on [email protected], and we will pass any messages on to Dave.
