New police campaign to tackle burglaries in Lincoln

Help Yourself campaign: Lincolnshire Police are launching a new initiative to tackle a rise in the number of burglaries in Lincoln the past few months.

Lincolnshire Police are launching a new campaign to tackle a rise in the number of burglaries in Lincoln over the past few months.

Since May, 168 burglaries were reported in the city, and the majority of them were due to unsecured windows and doors, police said.

Some 80 people have been arrested during investigations, and now Lincolnshire Police are raising awareness of home security through a new Help Yourself campaign.

Over the next four weeks, the force will be raising awareness of simple ways to avoid domestic burglaries through patrols, fliers and social media.

Stewart Brinn, Chief Inspector for Lincoln and West Lindsey, spoke to The Lincolnite about the campaign, the issues around burglaries in the city, and the types of perpetrators of the crimes.
