Road closures planned along Newark Road for repair works

More roadworks: More improvement works have been planned along Newark Road in the next month.

A number of small repairs are being made to various parts of Newark Road next month by Lincolnshire County Council contractors.

The work will involve fixing surface defects which arose from the £1.7million improvement project. The repair costs will be met by the contractor.

The repair works will affect traffic flow as follows:

  • September 1-2: Temporary traffic lights will be in place between Hykeham Road and Doddington Road
  • September 3: The Brant Road-Newark Road junction will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am
  • September 4: The Rookery Lane-Newark Road junction will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am

Diversions will be in place for the road closures. Access to businesses and properties will remain unchanged.

Dave Underwood, Principal Highways Officer at Lincolnshire County Council, said:
“We’ve identified some minor issues with the road surface on sections of Newark Road, which were caused by a problem with the material.

“The contractor who completed the work is returning to repair the defects at no cost to the council.

“We’ve scheduled the work to take place before the school holiday ends in order to minimise disruption, but I apologise for any inconvenience it may cause.”
