Lincoln scouts to bike 25 miles for cycling badge

On your bikes: A Lincoln scouts group is getting ready to cycle 25 miles to earn a new badge.

The 7th Lincoln Scouts group are preparing to bike 25 miles to Whisby in order to earn their cyclist activity badge.

Ten Scouts from the seventh Lincoln St Faiths scout group helped plan the bike ride which will take place on September 13.

They will leave Lincoln Grandstand at 10am, then travel along National Cycle Route 64 towards Skellingthorpe, Harby and Whisby, returning via Daisy Maid.

They hope to complete the 25 mile bike ride in four hours.

The group has support from the Access LN6 team at Lincolnshire County Council, who helped with route planning advice, tips and advice for cycling safety, and bike maintenance.

Scout Leader Hannah Cann said: “Cycling is a fantastic outdoor, adventurous activity which encourages healthy lifestyles.

“The scouts are doing the cyclist activity badge and training for a triathlon for a fitness challenge badge, so we’re really looking forward to the ride.”

Scout member Dylan (11) said: “I really like cycling and cycle every Wednesday, so I’m looking forward to it. I’m a little bit competitive so I’m looking forward to being at the front!”

Connie (10) added: “I’m looking forward to cycling a really long way – it will be exciting, and good exercise for us all.”
