Lincoln residents reminded of earlier bin collections

Be prepared: Lincoln residents are being reminded to make sure their bins are put out by 7am on their collection day and put away after.

Lincoln residents are being reminded to make sure their bins are put out by the earlier time of 7am on their collection day, after the city council enforces a number of changes.

Recent changes to collections mean some people will have their bins collected earlier than previously, while some won’t be collected until later.

Those residents with bin collection days that have changed have been informed by letter.

Caroline Bird, Community Services Manager at the city council, said: “Many residents have seen their bin day change, but even if your collection day hasn’t changed please be aware the time of your collection may be different.

“We always ask people to have their waste out by 7am in case of changes to times. This can happen without warning, such as if there are roadworks or a road closure. It’s a good rule to always have your bin out by 7am to guarantee collection.

“We’ve also had issues recently with people leaving their bins out for days after they’ve been collected, which causes problems particularly in narrow streets for people using the pavement, especially with pushchairs or mobility scooters.

“We would encourage people to make sure their bins are put away after they’ve been collected.”
