Lincoln Ice Rink prepares for city return

Rink return: Residents can start gearing up for a dance on the ice as the city’s festive rink returns later this month.

The Lincoln Ice Rink will return to the city centre for the eight time in less than two weeks’ time.

After a 10-day build time, the ice rink will launch at City Square, next to Wilkinsons, on November 29.

The 25 metre by 15 metre rink usually attracts around 20,000 skaters and over 3,000 skating sessions have already been booked by schools and community groups in Lincolnshire this year.

Firms are booking corporate party sessions and also taking up the banner advertising spaces around the perimeter of the rink.

The rink will be decorated by Lincoln BIG’s ambassadors to decorate the rink with lights and baubles, plus recruited 40 staff to help people enjoy their session on the ice.

As special launch event will be held in order to launch the festive attraction too.

Lincoln BIG Events & Promotions Organiser Rachel Hanson said: “Everything is looking good for the return of the ice rink – which will remain open from November 29 through until December 31 – only closing on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

“This year we are offering extended family sessions, to enable those under the age of three to skate (although older children may skate too), and of course our popular penguin skating aids will be available to help children to make the most of their experience on the ice,” said Rachel..

“Watch out also for the opportunities to skate with Elsa & Anna from the film ‘Frozen’ during some of our family sessions.”
