Lincoln pub and Chinese restaurant to install karaoke bar

Lincoln sing-a-long: A High Street pub will install a karaoke bar above its Chinese restaurant and function room.

City Vaults, a pub and Chinese restaurant on Lincoln High Street, will transform its first floor space into a karaoke bar.

Planning permission for the redevelopment was granted by the City of Lincoln Council on Wednesday, December 10.

The pub at 105 High Street will transform a two bedroom residential flat into three individual karaoke rooms.

The ground floor of the venue is currently a pub with a bar, function room and a Chinese-style food menu.

The area is a mix of ground floor business use and first floor residential use, and the redevelopment has been given a condition that it will not function past midnight after concerns were raised regarding noise levels.

A previous consultation on the plans raised six objections from local residents which highlighted the noise from live music, alterations not being in keeping with the conservation area of the High Street, increased antisocial behaviour and the increased demand for on-street parking.

The site has been visited by a Pollution Control Officer, who said there appeared to be sufficient sound-proofing.

No external changes to the building have been proposed, however after a call from a member of the public the council are enforcing action to ensure that a recently changed window is restored to its original form.
