Underwater search after woman’s body found in Lincoln river

Body found in river: Police are carrying out underwater searches in Lincoln after a woman’s body was found in River Witham.

Lincolnshire Police are carrying out underwater searches in River Witham in Lincoln after a woman’s body was found in the water.

Officers were called to Fairfax Street close to the Plough pub on Saturday, December 27, at around 11am after reports of a body in the water.

The 69-year-old local woman’s body was recovered by the Police Underwater Search Team.

Police are treating the death as unexplained at this stage until a post mortem establishes the cause of death.

The underwater search unit carried out investigations nearby at the footbridge at the end of Russell Street.
