Lincoln flume route announced

Flume route: See the plans for the giant water slide coming to Lincoln in July.

The Rotary Club of Lincoln Colonia, who are bringing a giant water slide to the centre of Lincoln this summer, have revealed the route of the fun flume.

The 90m-long slide will see hundreds of people shoot down the length of Flaxengate in Lincoln from The Collection museum to the junction with Clasketgate.

As mentioned previously, thrill seekers lucky enough to win a spot on the slide will be able to grab a lilo and hurtle down the slope on July 12.

The Rotary Club of Lincoln Colonia is organising the event in order to raise money for charities including Linkage Community Trust.

Applications will cost £3 and can be purchased on the event website, which is currently under construction.

The lottery style tickets will be drawn and the number of places will be restricted to around 500.

People can apply for as many tickets as they like, with surplus made from those unsuccessful going to the final chosen charities.

Project Manager for the Rotary Club of Lincoln Colonia, David Brook, said: “Unfortunately due to health and safety restrictions we will have to enforce an age restriction of 10 plus on the day.

“We have made our applications of road closures, including Danesgate to the City of Lincoln Council, and the road affected will depend on the popularity of the event.

“The website is currently under construction, but people can follow updates by searching Lincoln Flume on Facebook and #ZoomTheFlume on Twitter.

“We’ve had lots of support from businesses and organisations in the area, The Collection is getting involved as well as the Usher Gallery and it will be a fun filled full day event.”
