On the first day of a festival celebrating the story of England’s hero St George, visitors to Lincoln Castle stepped into a Medieval pageant of chivalry and excitement.

With lots to do for all the family until April 26, the St George’s Festival promised a face to face encounter with a deadly dragon as well as a chance to see fully armoured St George on his trusty horse as he does battle.

Costumed Medieval villagers could be spotted across the castle grounds and youngsters even had the chance to join the St George Chivalry School.
