Teenager dies in two car crash on B1189 near Lincoln

Serious collision: A 19-year-old man from the Horncastle area has died after a collision near Lincoln.

A 19-year-old man from the Horncastle area has died after a collision near Lincoln on May 19.

The crash on the B1189, Metheringham happened shortly before 6pm, involving two cars.

Emergency services including an air ambulance attended the scene, treating the teenager, who suffered serious injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The 19-year-old was driving a blue Volkswagen Polo. The other vehicle involved was a grey Volkswagen Golf, driven by a 53-year-old man from the Walcott area.

The driver of the Golf was taken to Lincoln County Hospital. He does not have any serious injuries.

The road was closed until around 10.30pm.

Police officers said the teenager will be formally named once family members have been informed.

The Senior Investigating Officer for the collision Sgt Dave Mitchell is appealing for anyone who was travelling along the B1189 near Metheringham around 5.50 pm, and who may have seen either vehicle prior to the collision or the collision itself, to get in touch.

Anyone who thinks they may have seen either vehicle is asked to contact the Collision Hotline on 01522 558855 or the non emergency number 101, quoting incident number 313 of May 19.
