Biker killed in crash in Marton

Appeal for witnesses: A 46-year-old man was killed when he crashed his motorbike into a tree near Lincoln.

A 46-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he crashed into a tree in Marton, north west of Lincoln.

The man from the Doncaster area was involved in the crash at around 6.44pm on Monday, June 15 on High Street at Marton.

He was riding a 1000cc Yamaha motorbike which left the road and crashed into a tree.

Police confirmed on Tuesday, June 16 that he had died at the scene.

Officers are noting that the incident is the 20th fatality on Lincolnshire roads this year compared with 14 for the same period last year.


Update: June 16 1.30pm – Police officers investigating the incident say two motorcyclists were travelling together from the Gainsborough direction on A156.

They had passed through Marton and were travelling towards Torksey when one lost control on the right hand bed.

Police are seeking for information from anyone who may have seen two motorcycles one with white and red, one blue, as they travelled towards Marton village from Gainsborough.
