Former Lincoln student killed in Tunisia beach massacre

Lincoln graduate killed: Former Lincoln student Carly Lovett is one of the first British victims of the terror attacks in Tunisia to be named.

A 24-year-old University of Lincoln graduate is among the first British victims to have been named after yesterday’s horrific terror attack in Tunisia.

Carly Lovett, who is a photographer and beauty blogger from Gainsborough, was killed when gunmen opened fire on a busy beach resort in El Kantaoui.

Carly is believed to have been in the country with friends and family. It is not yet known whether her fiance Liam Moore was with her.

The majority of those who have died are thought to be British holidaymakers.

ISIS has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack. One of the assailants was shot dead by officials, named as Seifeddine Yacoubi.

Update at 9.30pm: Sir Edward Leigh MP said: “It is with shock and sorrow that I have learnt of the death of my constituent Miss Carly Lovett, a resident of Gainsborough, who has been killed in Tunisia by gunmen who have terrorised the resort of Sousse.

“I can only offer my condolences to her family, friends and fiancé. Words will never adequately provide comfort for those who must face a very different future to the one that they imagined. As the local Member of Parliament I will work with colleagues in the government to ensure that those who perpetrated this horrific act are brought to justice.

“I am pleased at the reports that Lincolnshire Police have reacted swiftly to support Miss Lovett’s family and trust that there will be respect the family’s need for privacy at this difficult time.”
