In pictures: British Cycling Criteriums in Lincoln

Castle circuit: Hundreds of riders took on cobbled uphill Lincoln in the penultimate British Cycling road race event.

Lincoln’s Cathedral Quarter was alive with cheering crowds and the sound of whizzing wheels on cobbles on Saturday evening, as road race cyclists tackled the Castle Criteriums.

The races were the penultimate event on the British Cycling National Road Race Championships, which culminate with the road race through Lincoln and the West Lindsey district on Sunday, June 28.

Hundreds of riders from youth categories to junior bands and seniors raced a closed road 1 kilometre circuit around the perimeter of Lincoln Castle, starting and finishing in Castle Square.
