A 40-year-old man has been arrested after the body of a woman, believed to be missing mum Leah Palushi, was found in woodland near Gainsborough.

A Home Office post mortem will be carried out as part of the investigation on October 28 and the woman is expected to be formally identified.

As previously reported, 35-year-old Leah was reported missing from her home on October 22, with family and friends concerned for her welfare.

Officers were called to the woodland to the north-west of Lincoln at 9.54am on October 27 following reports that a woman’s body had been found.

The area, known as Dog Island Wood, remains secured to allow Lincolnshire Police to complete their investigation.

Senior Investigating Officer, DCI Hayley Williams, said: “If you have walked in or around the woods since Tuesday lunchtime until yesterday morning please give the enquiry team a ring.

“I’d like to speak to any dog walkers, bird watchers, runners or anyone who was in the area, it’s quite important.”

Local Community Policing Inspector Simon Outen added: “It’s very sad that a young woman and mum has lost her life. Local officers are out on patrol, please speak to them if you have any concerns.”

Anyone who has information or can help with enquiries is asked to contact Lincolnshire Police on the non-emergency number 101.
