Lincoln woman jailed after throwing beer glasses at partner in ‘sustained’ assault

Sentenced: A woman who left her partner with injuries after she threw beer glasses at him following an argument in a pub was jailed for 10 months.

A woman who left her partner with injuries after she threw beer glasses at him following an argument in a pub was jailed for 10 months at Lincoln Crown Court on Wednesday, December 9.

Rebecca Taylor launched the attack on Ashley Rasen after the couple were heard arguing in the Lincolnshire Poacher pub on Bunkers Hill in the city.

Jeremy Janes, prosecuting, said: “She was seen to get up and throw a number of glasses in the direction of Mr Rasen’s head.

“Mr Rasen just sat there. He didn’t respond to the violence. Blood was seen coming from the right side of his face.

“This was a sustained assault and there was use of a weapon.”

Police were called to the pub and Taylor was subsequently arrested. Rasen received a number of sutures to repair his injuries.

Taylor, 25, of Coleridge Gardens, Lincoln, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm as a result of the incident on the evening of February 27 this year.

Judge Simon Hirst told her: “You were angry and threw three glasses at him whilst screaming at him. The glasses struck him on the head. They are described as being thrown with force and determination.”

Christopher Geeson, defending, said Taylor had no previous convictions and had suffered provocation.

He said Taylor has mental health problems and has sought professional help.

“She is highly motivated to deal with any problems she has. She wants to sort her life out.”
