One person dies in De Wint Avenue fire in Lincoln

One person dies in fire: Police have confirmed that one person has sadly died in the fire at the flat and shop on De Wint Avenue in Lincoln.

Police have confirmed that one person has sadly died in the fire at the flat and shop on De Wint Avenue in Lincoln this evening.

Police said work is ongoing to establish the identity of this person.

An East Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “EMAS Hazardous Area Response Team ‘specialist paramedics’ were sent to the emergency to support fire crews and entered the property in breathing apparatus.

“A Dr was also called to support. Two patients were treated for smoke inhalation and taken to Lincoln County for further treatment.”

The investigation continues to establish the exact circumstances involved.

As previously reported, flames engulfed the building after residents heard an explosion just before 4.30pm.

More than 50 firefighters worked to put out the blaze, with eight crews involved.
