Shortly after 10.30pm, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said it had fully extinguished the fire using three main jets, the aerial ladder platform as a water tower, and three thermal imaging cameras.

Fire investigators said the cause of the fire was accidental, due to “contractors using equipment in close proximity to plastic filters.”

A large quantity of plastic water filters have been damaged by the fire, as well as heat damage to a steel clad silo.

There was also heat damage to a further three silos.
