The finishing touches are being added to the facility as part of the £3.6 million North Kesteven Centre refurbishment – soon to be unveiled as One NK.

With phase four of the centre’s modernisation under way, the new interactive toddler pool is being created using the history of the Magna Carta as inspiration.

Once complete, it will allow children to use their imaginations when becoming King or Queen of the castle and will start off new ‘family’ swimming experiences; from baby to toddler, teenager to adult.

As part of the current programme of the refurbishment, works are taking place to the changing village, the surround of the swimming pool is being retiled and a brand new flume is being created.

A new, modern open plan reception area, café and Infolinks are also being put in place.

The splash zone is now being fitted along with a new flume at the pool.

North Kesteven District Council Leader, Councillor Mrs Marion Brighton OBE said: “It is great to see the works at the centre continuing and this new interactive splash area looks fantastic.

“Our main aim throughout this project is to meet the needs of the customer and, through consultation, we’ve listened to what people want to see at the centre.

“One of our priorities is focused on our community and how we ensure NK is a somewhere people can stay fit and active. Centres like this go a long way to helping us achieve this and I’m sure residents will really feel the benefit once the works are complete.”

The redevelopment of the centre has so far seen the opening of a new gym, cycling studio and three multi-use studios.

The swimming pool and changing facilities will open again in the spring, with the Magna Carta splash and flume.
