Footage which appeared to show two ambulance drivers racing each other down a stretch of road north of Lincoln was students in training, EMAS have confirmed.

Shocked at the driving along Tillbridge Lane near Sturton by Stow, Gainsborough salesman Gary K, 30, followed the two emergency vehicles between Marton and Lincolnshire Showground.

Watching on in amazement, his wife reached for the camera just after midday on Wednesday, April 20.

He said: “I was travelling down Tillbridge Lane when I came across the two NHS ambulances. They seemed to be racing each other.”

East Midlands Ambulance Service investigated the incident and confirmed that it was in fact student ambulance drivers in training.
