A teacher from Lincoln is to become the face of a national TV campaign encouraging more people to join the profession.

Chris Mattley, a Geography teacher at William Farr School, is fronting the ‘Your Future: Their Future’ campaign to recruit more teachers.

The ‘Your Future: Their Future’ advert, which will start its new TV run on April 1 and appear in breaks in shows including Gogglebox on Channel 4 and Scott & Bailey on ITV, aims to highlight that it’s still not too late to apply to begin training for the next academic year.

Chris is Head of Year and has been shortlisted for Outstanding Secondary Teacher. He won the award for Teacher of the Year in a Secondary School in the National Silver Pearson Awards 2015.

Chris said: “Teaching is a real calling and a passion and more people should do it. There are lots of kids waiting for their inspirational teacher to meet them and get them fired up.

“I’m delighted to be the ‘real’ face of teaching and get the chance to effuse about the profession. I’m hoping it encourages more people from Lincoln to come forward and become teachers.”

Roger Pope, Chair of the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL), said: “Chris is one of the country’s most inspiring and talented classroom teachers chosen to star in our advert, which explains why people with the passion and potential to teach should consider a career in the profession.

“It’s not too late to use your skills and experience to make a difference as a teacher. You can apply now to begin training in September.”

NCTL provides a comprehensive programme of support to help people become teachers, providing guidance all the way through the application process.
