National discount chain Home Bargains is set to move into the Tritton Retail Park under new proposals submitted to City of Lincoln Council.

Electrical and telecommunications retailer Dixons Carphone has applied for planning permission to install a mezzanine at its Currys store to create a two-in-one store to allow PC World to move into the premises.

This would free up space in the existing PC World store for Home Bargains.

The applicants said: “If the application is successful and Home Bargains are able to occupy the unit, a number of significant economic benefits will arise.

“First, it will ensure that both Currys and PC World continue to trade in the Lincoln market whist safeguarding those existing local jobs.

“Second, it will facilitate the long term occupation of Unit 6, which despite ongoing and active marketing has had little interest.

“Indeed, it has become evident that there is very little chance of the unit being brought into beneficial use under its current limitation with only Home Bargains expressing an interest in occupying the unit.”
