Roads closed and homes evacuated in Lincoln village due to major gas leak

Update 11am: Roads in Navenby have reopened and the gas leak has been stopped.

Lincolnshire Police are warning of a major gas leak in the village of Navenby, south of Lincoln.

Homes have been evacuated and motorists are facing delays on roads in the area while emergency services deal with the leak, which was reported at about 7.30am.

Lincolnshire Police said it is believed a grass cutter may have damaged a pipe on the A607 Lincoln Road.

At the time of writing, the A15, the A607 Grantham Road and surrounding roads have been closed by police.

Around five homes have reportedly been evacuated and a 600 metre cordon is in place.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue’s Lincoln South crew is in attendance at Lincoln Road.

National Grid is at the scene and it is hoped the situation will be resolved soon.
