The blood, sweat and tears of non-league football have been captured in a new documentary following the trials and tribulations of Lincoln’s second biggest club.

What It Takes is a documentary detailing the 78-year history of Lincoln United FC, and the last few months of an eventful 2015-16 season for The Whites.

Produced and uploaded by University of Lincoln student Will Longman, with additional camera work from Owen Bellwood and Calvin Robinson, the documentary features matchday footage from home games at Ashby Avenue, including their vital victory over Rugby Town which confirmed a playoff place.

The documentary has interviews with everyone from the head of youth development Ian Beaumont, to kit man Steve Churcher, manager Dave Frecklington, captain Michael Jacklin, and other first-team squad members discussing their full-time jobs at British Gas or missing a match to get married in Mexico.

Club chairman Malcolm Cowling also reveals his ambitions to place the club at the centre of the community, improve the facilities at Ashby Avenue, and for the club to play in a higher league.

The final objective remains delayed for another season however, after The Whites lost 3-2 to Shaw Lane Aquaforce, from Barnsley, in the playoffs of the Northern Premier League Division One South, seven divisions below the Premier League.
