Lincoln residents will pay their respects and tributes at a special vigil for Labour MP Jo Cox, who was shot and stabbed in her constituency last week.

The vigil will take place on Minster Yard outside Lincoln cathedral from 7pm to 8pm on Tuesday, June 21.

Those attending will light candles, pray and observe a moment of silence for the 41-year-old MP’s friends and family.

Politicians returned to Westminster on Monday, June 20 to pay tribute to Jo, who was killed outside a library in Birstall on Thursday, June 16.

EU referendum campaigning had also now resumed following a cease in respect.

Thomas Mair, 52, from Birstall faces charges of murder, grievous bodily harm, possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence and possession of an offensive weapon in connection with the attack.

Lincolnshire MPs are said to be reviewing security arrangements following the attack.
