A city-based ale production company is giving a Lincoln village pub a new lease of life with the addition of a new brewery, offering tours, tastings and other exciting events.

Lincolnshire Brewing Company has invested a significant amount in its new four acre site at The George in Langworth, and plans to create several new jobs.

Work is expected to be completed by the end of the year and additional services such as tours and food will follow soon after.

The George will remain open throughout the refit of the site.

Since opening The Crafty Bottle on The Strait in Lincoln, Karl and Claire Brown, owners of the brewery, have seen a large increase in demand for the locally brewed ale, which has a focus on Lincolnshire.

As well as taking on the existing staff, the company plan on creating several more jobs once the brewery is up and running.

Claire said: “We are bringing a new lease of life back to The George, a pub which has remained a consistent part of local life for many years.

“We also run Spirit Bar, an outside events company, so are very experienced at shows and festivals. This is another step in the right direction for us.

“We will be introducing traditional pub food back to The George, starting with a Sunday carvery hopefully in the Autumn, followed by themed food nights and a full menu shortly after, as well as offering a function room facility for weddings and parties.

“Local support for the pub has been amazing and we hope to extend the customer base further by creating a good reputation and bringing back a traditional style pub.”
