John, who has been a taxi driver for 30 years, often delights customers with performances at the wheel.

He said: “My friend told me I was an operatic tenor which is quite rare voice round here.

“I started doing shows in the Theatre Royal years ago but I mainly sing in my car.

“I sing to my customers and get applause in the car.

“I do love singing and it makes me happy.

“I am always nervous performing but that is just part of the territory of it. I will do the best I can.”
