Work is due to begin on a new North Hykeham Lidl store, with doors set to open in summer 2017.

The new supermarket off Newark Road, on the site of the former Ocean Chinese Restaurant, will create 38 jobs and include around 113 parking spaces.

As previously reported, local residents raised a number of objections during the planning stage about proximity to the existing Asda and Spar shops, as well as additional traffic.

Despite this, the 3,867 sqm food store was approved by North Kesteven District Council in January.

Demolition on the site will begin in early August, ready for construction to start in October.

It will become the third Lidl store in the Lincoln area, joining supermarkets on Dixon Street and the Carlton Centre.
