Lincoln Theatre Royal is now under new management and plans to bring the theatre back to the heart of the city.

Following previous reports, Lincoln Theatre Royal was temporarily taken over by the New Lincoln Theatre company in June.

The company has now taken over on a permanent basis and plans to bring life back into the venue.

Mike Hayes-Cowley and his wife, Natalie, are the new directors of the New Lincoln Theatre company and lease the building from APS Limited.

Both plan to officially re-open the theatre in mid October.

Natalie Hayes-Cowley told The Lincolnite: “We are a family. All of the acts we had to cancel want to come back.

“We want to bring the theatre back to its original, traditional roots and bring back the original name too – New Theatre Royal.”

The box office will open on September 5, where tickets for the new pantomime, Cinderella, will be on sale with an average price of around £20.

The theatre is currently having a re-vamp reading for its official re-opening in mid October

Pre-paid tickets

New Lincoln Theatre have said they will do everything they can to assist around 1,000 people to reclaim their money from pre-paid tickets previously purchased from the old company, Moonstone Entertainment Ltd.

Mike said: “The pre-ticket sales were purchased by the public under the old company.

“That old company has had that money and spent that money and unfortunately that company is no longer trading. That money disappeared with the old company.

“The new company have obviously never received the money.

“What we are happy to do is assist these people in any way we can to enable them to reclaim their money back by the source in which they paid.”

For credit card holders, they can get money back by following these steps:

  1. Email [email protected] explaining how you bought tickets with the old company via credit card.
  2. You will receive an email from the new company with a cover letter which can be given to your credit card provider explaining how the theatre is under a new operating company and that the old company has ceased trading.
  3. By giving this to your credit card company, you should be able to get money from the pre-paid tickets back

The new company is also looking into ways to help people who have paid through other methods.
