Plans have been submitted for a new M&S Foodhall at Moorland Centre retail park, off Tritton Road in Lincoln.

Subject to planning consent, a two-storey building would be built at the rear of the site on vacant land – currently fenced off.

The new store would offer the M&S food and drink range and include a café as well.

The Moorland Centre currently hosts a Downtown Superstore, a Lincolnshire Co-op travel branch and Elite Fish ‘n’ Chips.

Lincolnshire Co-op, which owns the site, has submitted the planning application to the City of Lincoln Council alongside agents Banks Long & Co.

It is hoped that work could start on site by the end of the year.

The retail park also has a large car park with over 270 spaces.

Head of Property Planning at M&S Rob Morray said: “We’re hoping to bring a new Foodhall to Lincoln to complement our existing offer in the town.

“Our new store would offer customers the very best of M&S food, as well as play a role in the local community.”

Director of Banks Long & Co Tim Bradford said: “Bringing an M&S Foodhall to Lincoln will provide shoppers with an additional choice in the south of the city.

“There are some great local businesses at the Moorland Centre and this plan would give shoppers yet another reason to visit the retail park, helping to boost trade.”
